Bridging the Digital Divide
Our CEO, Stephen Spengler, serves as a commissioner for the Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development — a group focused on achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Targets for 2025 include affordable broadband services in developing countries and connecting Micro-, Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises.
Team Intelsat Gives Back
Formed in 2016, this corporate-wide initiative invites employees to volunteer their time to non-governmental organizations, such as orphanages, food banks, and homeless shelters. Intelsat also matches donations made by employees for charitable causes including the American and International Red Cross, World Vision, and Team Rubicon.
Educating the Next Generation
Through the Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce Job Shadow program, a group of STEM students from local high schools visit and shadow our engineers, participating in a hands-on satellite model-building competition and observing the day-to-day work of our satellite controllers.
Intelsat is a proud member of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Crisis Connectivity Charter, which sets out a process to accelerate access to satellite-based communications during disaster situations. Within 24 hours of a crisis, signatories coordinate and deploy services to affected areas for up to three months. Recently, Intelsat aided in restoring emergency communications to the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian.
Education in Africa
In support of Mindset Network, Intelsat provides satellite bandwidth that enables the delivery of quality educational resources to schools, homes, community centers, teacher centers, and public health facilities throughout the African continent.
