Intelsat Signs IntelsatOne IP Deals for Full Time Video Distribution
MCLEAN, Va. – Intelsat, operator of one of the world’s largest integrated satellite and terrestrial networks, has signed two IntelsatOne IP agreements providing full time distribution of content, allowing the new customers faster and more efficient ways to deliver programming to the end viewer.
“Broadcasters and programmers are looking for reliable and cost-effective alternatives to contribute and distribute video feeds regionally and globally,” said Pascale Fromont, vice president and general manager of Media, Intelsat. “Since its inception in 2023, IntelsatOne IP is uniquely designed to increase the reach and flexibility of the Intelsat Global Hybrid Media Network, providing customers with more options for video distribution and contribution, and back-up and disaster recovery systems.”
MuxIP, a company that empowers media companies and content owners to create, distribute and monetize FAST channels will use IntelsatOne IP to transport its FAST channels including World Poker Tour and Wild TV for satellite distribution in North America. The content is sent to Intelsat’s Mountainside teleport in Maryland via IntelsatOne IP where it will uplink to Galaxy 19, a free to air direct-to-home platform for distribution.
“We were looking to find markets for our FAST channels that have ad support in them, cable and satellite offer just that. We see satellite playing a huge role and are excited about expanding our satellite offering with new kinds of content” said MuxIP Founder and CEO, Tom Link.
Universal Church will use IntelsatOne IP as primary and backup transport to ensure reliable distribution to viewers of its English HD video and radio channels in Sub-Saharan Africa. To accomplish this, the channels are sent from the IntelsatOne IP PoP in Johannesburg, South Africa to the Fuchsstadt, Germany teleport where the content is uplinked to Intelsat 20 for free to air direct-to-home distribution.
IntelsatOne IP is fully integrated into Intelsat’s hybrid terrestrial and satellite infrastructure, providing a new global IP software video management layer to an existing, terrestrial fiber network. This provides media customers with more connectivity options in content distribution allowing customers to distribute content through a hybrid terrestrial-satellite connection, as well as provide a back-up or disaster recovery system.
