Intelsat’s Banner 2024 Marked by Multiple Awards and Recognition
From multi-orbit connectivity on commercial aircraft to industry-first achievements in sustainability to a monumental and potentially industry-changing transaction, 2024 was a year of milestones and major achievements for Intelsat. The satellite industry, Washington area associations, and prominent media outlets took notice, bestowing Intelsat and its leaders with several significant company and individual awards throughout the year. Here are some of the highlights:
• For his overall vision and industry leadership, emphasis on humanitarian and charitable causes, and commitment to innovation, all culminating in the industry’s “Biggest Deal of 2024” according to Via Satellite, CEO Dave Wajsgras was selected for inclusion in Virginia Magazine’s 500 Power List and awarded GovCon Executive of the Year by the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce and Professional Services Council.
• In recognition of the innovative and uniquely creative strategies Intelsat has developed and executed under his leadership to protect its satellite and ground networks from nefarious actors and also fortify its partners and customers from hostile actors, Intelsat’s Vinit Duggal was named Cybersecurity Executive of the Year by WashingtonExec.
• In leading efforts to drive greater interoperability between satellite and terrestrial networks, launching multi-orbit connectivity solutions, and virtualizing the company’s space and ground network, Intelsat extended its position as a leading innovator in 2024. These and other initiatives prompted WashingtonExec to name Bruno Fromont Chief Technology Officer of the Year.
• Intelsat has demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability in space, as evidenced by initiatives to extend the life of satellites in space and launch satellites using reusable rockets. For these and other reasons, Intelsat earned sustainability awards from the Satcom Innovation Group and the Mobile Satellite Users Association.
• Intelsat’s continued efforts to connect the unconnected and support the underserved in the most remote and, in some cases, hostile regions of the world did not go unnoticed. The Financial Times and the World Bank recognized Intelsat with an award for bringing life-changing connectivity to Burkina Faso.
• Angela Galyean’s human resources team continued to successfully recruit, invest in, and nurture the young talent that will keep the company at the forefront of the satellite industry for years to come. Her achievements in 2024 earned her WashingtonExec’s Top HR Executive to Watch award while Harley Clarke, one of the Intelsat stars on the rise, took home Satcom Innovation Group’s Young Engineer of the Year award.
