C-band Global Mobility Network
High-speed broadband solutions for customers on the move
Seamless C-Band Coverage Worldwide
Intelsat’s Global C-band Mobility Network uses capacity on three ocean-region satellites: IS-18 at 180° E, IS-23 at 307° E and IS-906 at 64° E. Primary hubs at Intelsat’s Fuchsstadt and Riverside teleports and backup hubs at Intelsat’s Mountainside and Atlanta teleports round out the seamless global network.
Operational highlights:
- Seamless global voice, data and video services
- Automatic beam switching (ABS) allows a vessel to seamlessly transfer from one satellite to another while maintaining connectivity with continuous provisioning of the service
- Defined IP rate for downlink and uplink channels for each customer’s Individual Shipboard Terminal (SBT). (Customers are responsible for providing their own SBTs.)
- The forward channel is a high speed Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) carrier transmitted via satellite from hubs located at the Intelsat teleports
- The return channels are Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) links transmitted via satellite from SBTs
