Intelsat Extends Contract with Viewsat; Strengthens its Media Neighborhood at 68.5 Degrees

Luxembourg, 17 November 2010

Intelsat S.A., the world’s leading provider of fixed satellite services, announced that Viewsat, a major provider of global broadcast and transmission services for television and radio channels, extended its commitment to Intelsat’s video neighborhood at 68.5 degrees East longitude. The multi-transponder agreement extends Viewsat’s current contract on the Intelsat 10 satellite onto the Intelsat 20 satellite (IS-20) following its launch and entry into service in 2012. Viewsat distributes free-to-air programming bouquets reaching all the Sub-Saharan countries.

“With capacity on IS-20, we are equipped with the in-orbit resources we require to ensure our business grows," said Awaes Jaswal, CEO, Viewsat. “Intelsat’s IS-20 not only offers us access to its industry-leading African video neighborhood, but provides us with access to the right audiences beyond Africa as we expand our program offerings, regions served and subscribers."

“As one of the premiere DTH and video distribution platforms within our network, IS-20 will bring incremental capacity to this orbital location and continue to drive growth for media services across Africa, the Middle East and Asia,” said Kurt Riegelman, Intelsat’s Senior Vice President, Global Sales.

Viewsat carries religious and general entertainment programming that currently includes the following networks: Press TV, KICC TV, and Supreme Master TV. Viewsat is among 36 DTH platforms carried on the global Intelsat network.
