Intelsat S.A., the world’s leading provider of fixed satellite services, announced that Angela Wheeler, Senior Engineer, RF Operations, was one of three awarded the 2010 Promise Award by the Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI). In addition, Honorable Mentions went to Michael Stauder, Teleport Technician, at Intelsat’s Fuchsstadt Teleport; and John Huddle, Intelsat’s Senior Product Manager, Media Services. The Promise Awards recognize young satellite professionals with potential to play a leadership role in the industry.
Wheeler was recognized for her achievements in her current contributions with respect to satellite anomaly events and developing effective interference mitigation strategies. She also manages a team of engineers and operations staff that provides regular input to corporate planning initiatives; coordinates with customer operations and is directly responsible for executing Intelsat’s satellite transition plans.
"Each year we get the pleasure of honoring four professionals who are making a significant difference within their companies and the industry as a whole. The 2010 honorees have distinguished themselves as the next generation of leaders in satellite communications and the industries it serves," said Robert Bell, SSPI Executive Director.
“Angela has consistently demonstrated a level of professional poise and grace under pressure. She is a self starter, intellectually inquisitive, a great collaborative team player, and a natural leader who leads by personal example and by virtue of her unique ability to always remain focused on providing creative solutions to our customers,” said Patricia Constantino, Intelsat’s Director, RF Operations Center. "I can think of no one more deserving of such an award; we are extremely proud of her accomplishments."
