Intelsat S.A., the world’s leading provider of fixed satellite services, today announced that HBO Latin America Group (HBO LAG) has signed a multi-year, multi-transponder contract with Intelsat to increase its program distribution to viewers across Latin America. This contract also includes a comprehensive teleport restoration program for HBO LAG via IntelsatOne, Intelsat’s new IP/MPLS fiber and teleport network.
HBO LAG will use capacity on three of Intelsat’s satellite neighborhoods that serve Latin America. Via the Intelsat network, HBO LAG will broadcast its content to millions of subscribers across the region. Programming includes the HBO brand of channels: HBO, HBO2, HBO Plus, HBO Family, HBO HD, Cinemax, Max, Max HD and MaxPrime – in addition to A&E, Animax, AXN, E! Entertainment, Sony Entertainment TV, The Biography Channel and The History Channel.

This contract provides us with a reliable and resilient distribution platform from which we can serve the Latin America cable market, support the efficient introduction of our new high-definition programming and ensure service continuity for nearly the next two decades,” said HBO LAG CEO Gaston Comas. “Intelsat’s operational and technical expertise, combined with its responsive customer service, will enable us to reach our existing and new subscribers with the highest-quality signal.”
