Intelsat Transmits Video Programming for AT&T CruiseCast Service

Pembroke, Bermuda and Dallas, 15 April 2009

Intelsat, Ltd., the world’s leading provider of fixed satellite services, and RaySat Broadcasting Corporation (RBC) announced that RBC has contracted satellite capacity on Intelsat’s fleet to enable the delivery of AT&T CruiseCast SM mobile TV service, a new source of entertainment in family vehicles. AT&T CruiseCast will provide 42 channels of satellite TV and radio to the back seat of cars. The service will use capacity on Intelsat’s Galaxy 25 satellite, located at 93º W. Intelsat will also be providing terrestrial services through its Mountainside Teleport facility in Maryland. This includes aggregation of the channels, hosting of the AT&T CruiseCast hub, and monitoring and troubleshooting support. The same infrastructure and operations team that supports the Intelsat IPTV video distribution platform will be utilized for the CruiseCast services.

“We rely on Intelsat for the best combination of performance, value and affordability in satellite transmission services, which means our customers can be assured they’re getting a top-quality presentation of entertainment every time they’re in their cars watching the AT&T CruiseCast service,” said Michael Grannan, Chief Operating Officer of RBC. “Intelsat’s proven satellite and teleport infrastructure made it a natural choice for providing us the robust transmission platform we needed in order to successfully roll out our service.”

“Mobility is one of the most dominant trends in telecom today, driving demand for our commercial satellite capacity,” said Stephen Spengler, Intelsat’s Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing. “Our industry-leading satellite and ground infrastructure is already supporting maritime communications and broadband applications for in-flight services.”

AT&T CruiseCast mobile TV service is the In-Car Entertainment offering that will enable families, back-seat commuters and mobile professionals on a break to watch satellite video channels from anywhere in the country. The AT&T CruiseCast service will have a robust lineup of 22 television and 20 satellite radio channels that will include a variety of kids and family, documentary, music, comedy, news and sports programming.

The AT&T CruiseCast service utilizes a compact, low-profile antenna for use on cars, non-commercial trucks and SUVs, and breakthrough technology that overcomes line-of-sight obstacles such as overpasses, buildings, trees or tunnels. The groundbreaking service was developed in collaboration between RaySat, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier for the mass market for cost-effective, low-profile satellite antennas that enable communication on the move, and AT&T*, the world’s premier telecommunications company. RaySat Broadcasting Corporation, a privately held U.S. company, is working with AT&T Business Development to introduce the new product to the marketplace.

The AT&T CruiseCast service is made consumer-friendly by the unique scaling down of satellite technology into the small pod-like antenna that affixes to the roof of vehicles. The antenna is paired with a receiver that is mounted in the vehicle and provides all video and audio connections to the appropriate vehicle systems, such as Rear Seat Entertainment, Vehicle Audio System, etc. For more information, go to www.cruisecast.com.

Intelsat will be celebrating its “20 years of HD” and exhibiting in Hall C, Booth #4937 and in the Outdoor Pavilion, Booth #E404 (where a live AT&T CruiseCast demonstration will be taking place) at NAB 2009, the tradeshow for professionals involved in the creation, management and delivery of content for the broadcasting industry, which is being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center 20-23 April.
