KT Corporation to provide teleport hub services for Intelsat’s GXS offerings

Pembroke, Bermuda, 26 March 2009

Intelsat, Ltd., the world's leading provider of fixed satellite services, announced that KT Corporation, the leading communications service provider for Korea and the Asia-Pacific region, will host two new GXS Network Broadband hubs for Intelsat in the Asia-Pacific region. This provides Intelsat access to KT Corporation’s teleport facilities in South Korea, expanding the managed services portfolio Intelsat markets to its growing customer base. The Intelsat GXS services include Intelsat’s GXS Internet Trunking Service, Network Broadband and International Private Line.

“KT Corporation is very pleased to provide teleport hub services for Intelsat’s hybrid network broadband services in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Sung-Man Kim, KT Corporation’s Senior Executive Vice President, Network Group. “Furthermore, KT Corporation is confident that it will satisfy Intelsat’s customers’ needs through the two regional teleports which will be operated by KT Corporation.”

“With mobility services growing in importance for our business, particularly in the maritime and aeronautical sectors, the KT Corporation gateway gives Intelsat contiguous global access to support our customers’ mobility offerings,” said Jay Yass, Intelsat’s Vice President, Network Services. “It will enhance gateway teleport antenna access to certain beams on Intelsat satellites from 60º E to 180º E, allowing us to expand our GXS services for our growing customer base in the region.”

Intelsat GXS is a portfolio of services that bundles space segment with teleports, points of presence and terrestrial network infrastructure. The GXS network is designed to provide end-to-end support for data, media, trunking, broadband Internet, VoIP, WiFi hotspots, distance learning and mobility solutions worldwide.

Under a separate contract, KT Corporation became a distributor of Intelsat’s GXS Network Broadband Global Maritime service. KT Corporation maritime customers are benefiting from Intelsat’s service that offers an always-on, true broadband connection, a global monitoring system and automatic beam switching technology.

Intelsat will be exhibiting at Booth #109 at SATELLITE 2009, the leading tradeshow for the global satellite industry, which is being held at the Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C., 25-27 March.
