IntelsatOne Expands Reach as Sports Fans Shift Focus to Brazil for 2014 World Cup
The new Miami Point of Presence on the
IntelsatOne network.
The new Miami Point of Presence (PoP) on the IntelsatOne network opened for commercial operations on 1 September and will enable programmers and service providers to bring content into and out of Latin America and the South Florida region with ease.

It is equipped to support network and media service requirements, and will also serve as a transit node on the core IntelsatOne fiber network, adding further redundancy and increasing routing options.

The Miami PoP includes:
  • A convenient location at the NAP of the Americas, a carrier-neutral main hub for regional and global connectivity

  • Triple diverse-path connectivity to IntelsatOne

  • High-bandwidth undersea cable connection from Miami to multiple points throughout Latin America
One of the first new customers leveraging the PoP is Florida-based Vista Satellite Communications, a leading provider of full-time and occasional use transmission and television production services. Vista will connect via dual and diverse local loops. The company will transmit video programming via fiber that will be routed from Miami to Intelsat’s teleports, and then uplinked to satellite for contribution and cable distribution in the United States and internationally.

“Adding a PoP in Miami is a significant advancement for IntelsatOne, and is helping such customers as Vista Satellite Communications expand its global reach like never before,” said Carmen Gonzalez-Sanfeliu, RVP of Latin America & Caribbean Sales. “This infrastructure addition will improve our service offerings for customers in the Miami area and extend IntelsatOne to serve the needs of our customers in Latin America.”

Leading media and telecommunications firms leverage IntelsatOne for full-time video distribution, disaster recovery services, corporate networks, mobility services and occasional use applications. The network also peers with BT and PCCW, further expanding the alternative paths to access IntelsatOne and the global fleet.
