An Update from Europe and the Middle East
Jean Philippe Gillet, Regional VP, Europe & Middle East Sales Hello,

The excitement created by Intelsat EpicNG is changing the industry’s dialog about high-throughput satellites. My conversations with many of our customers confirm that Intelsat is setting the pace on technology that will support your business into the next decade.

Designed to provide high performance satellite communications infrastructure for fixed and mobile applications, Intelsat EpicNG is attracting the world’s leading aeronautical and maritime providers.  In particular, Panasonic Avionics plans to use capacity on the platform to deliver consumer broadband and live TV services over the busy North Atlantic aeronautical routes. We also are nearing completion of our global broadband mobility platform in early 2013, which will provide connectivity for customers at sea, on land and in the air.

I am also pleased to report that Intelsat launched three new satellites this past summer. Intelsat 19, Intelsat 20 and Intelsat 21 each carry multiple MCPC platforms and collectively replenish video distribution capacity across three continents.  Together with IntelsatOne, these satellites provide customers unparalleled access to South America, Africa and Asia, and their video neighborhoods offer customers up to 100 percent cable headend penetration.

Looking ahead, Intelsat 23, set for launch 14 October will provide C-band services to customers in the Americas, Europe and Africa, and Ku-band coverage for Latin America.

In this issue of Insider, read about:
  • The launch of Carrier ID at the 2012 London Games and our efforts in combating interference

  • The new Miami Point of Presence on IntelsatOne, a gateway for communications providers in Europe and the Middle East seeking access to Latin America

  • Our new inclined orbit satellite services, designed to deliver improved cost efficiency for applications such as internet trunking, cellular backhaul and mobility services.
I look forward to talking with you soon and learning more about your business plans.
