Intelsat announced recently that it will move its U.S. headquarters and more than 430 employees from Washington, D.C., to Fairfax County, Va., in mid-2014, timed closely with the company’s 50th anniversary.
Intelsat will lease approximately 188,000 square feet of space in Tysons Tower, a 20-story, state-of-the-art office building being built by Macerich at Tysons Corner Center.
At a Dec. 3 event in Tysons, Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell joined several other elected state and county dignitaries to welcome Intelsat to Virginia.
“As we prepare to leave our iconic location in Washington, D.C., after nearly 30 years, we look forward to beginning a new chapter in our company’s colorful history,” said Intelsat EVP of Sales, Marketing and Strategy Steve Spengler. “Our new state-of-the-art building will offer a dynamic, high-profile location that will be ideal for Intelsat as we continue shaping the communications landscape for decades to come.”
