PanAmSat Welcomes Broadcasters Home at NAB 2005 with Demos of Latest Global Connectivity Services
Galaxy HD, America’s First and Leading HD Neighborhood, Showcased with Largest Concentration of HD Programmers in the Nation

PanAmSat (NYSE: PA) will welcome customers to the Galaxy Neighborhood at NAB 2005 (April 17-21, Las Vegas) with a series of special events and demonstrations to showcase the company’s success in the high-definition television (HDTV) arena as well as its latest global connectivity products and services.

With the launch of Galaxy 13 in 2003, PanAmSat established the first true HDTV cable neighborhood in North America. The Galaxy fleet is home to such HDTV giants as: HBO HD, Cinemax HD, ESPN HD, ESPN 2 HD, Fox Sport Net HD, HDNet, HDNet Movies, The NFL Network HD, Outdoor Channel 2 HD, Showtime HD West, Starz HDTV,TNT HD and Wealth TV.
In addition to being the primary HD platform for U.S. cable distribution, PanAmSat enables numerous television broadcasters in both the origination and distribution of their HD programming. Internationally, PanAmSat was the first satellite carrier to transmit HD feeds for NHK. Domestically, PanAmSat provides origination and distribution services for the WB Network, FOX Broadcasting, and beginning in February 2006, the ABC Television Network.
During NAB 2005, PanAmSat will highlight a number of global connectivity solutions including:
- QuickSPOT, a mobile offering from PanAmSat’s family of bandwidth-on-demand services
- PASport, the largest occasional use satellite and fiber optic network in the world
- PanGlobal, a new Australian direct-to-home satellite platform for international broadcasters desiring to reach Australia’s multi-cultural viewers
QuickSPOT services will be demonstrated live at booth MM136 in the Mobile Media area. PASport and PanGlobal services will be showcased at the ‘PanAmSat Welcome to the Neighborhood’ booth, C2123, in the central hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. And as Team PASport prepares for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, customers are invited to the booth to see how they can win two tickets to the Games.
In addition to the demonstrations, the company will host its Annual Info Session Breakfast on Tuesday, April 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. All broadcasters, fiber and satellite service customers are invited for breakfast and a PanAmSat presentation regarding their global communications solutions for 2005 and the future. The Galaxy Neighborhood Block Party will be held on April 19 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It will be sponsored by JSAT, a leading satellite operator in the Asia-Pacific region and a PanAmSat partner in the development of the Horizons-1 satellite. PanAmSat and JSAT jointly developed and own this Ku-band satellite capacity at 127 degrees west longitude, using this capacity to offer a variety of digital video, Internet and data services. The satellite will also be used to create new IP-based content distribution networks.
