Luxembourg, 24 August 2010

Intelsat S.A., the world’s leading provider of fixed satellite services, today announced that HBO Latin America Group (HBO LAG) has signed a multi-year, multi-transponder contract with Intelsat to increase its program distribution to viewers across Latin America. This contract also includes a comprehensive teleport restoration program for HBO LAG via IntelsatOne, Intelsat’s new IP/MPLS fiber and teleport network.

HBO LAG will use capacity on three of Intelsat’s satellite neighborhoods that serve Latin America. Via the Intelsat network, HBO LAG will broadcast its content to millions of subscribers across the region. Programming includes the HBO brand of channels: HBO, HBO2, HBO Plus, HBO Family, HBO HD, Cinemax, Max, Max HD and MaxPrime – in addition to A&E, Animax, AXN, E! Entertainment, Sony Entertainment TV, The Biography Channel and The History Channel.

“Intelsat’s video neighborhoods offer the industry’s highest levels of cable head-end penetration. This contract provides us with a reliable and resilient distribution platform from which we can serve the Latin America cable market, support the efficient introduction of our new high-definition programming and ensure service continuity for nearly the next two decades,” said HBO LAG CEO Gaston Comas. “Intelsat’s operational and technical expertise, combined with its responsive customer service, will enable us to reach our existing and new subscribers with the highest-quality signal.”

Carmen González-Sanfeliu, Intelsat’s Vice President, Latin America & the Caribbean, said, “Our contract with HBO Latin America is the latest development in our 16-year relationship with HBO LAG, during which we have provided pan-regional coverage, cable head-end penetration and redundancy. This contract demonstrates our commitment to build the most valuable neighborhoods in Latin America and invest in capacity that supports the growth objectives of our customers.”

Intelsat will be exhibiting at SET Broadcast and Cable 2010 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, August 25-27.
