Our World: Uniting the Planet Via Satellite

In this E and T article, Intelsat’s Brian Duffey discusses the challenges of the first global broadcast which took place 50 years ago using Intelsat’s first three satellites. The broadcast, which was originated and engineered by Intelsat customer BBC, was called ‘Our World’ and was transmitted to 14 different countries, in 22 different languages and reached an estimated 400 million people. The live broadcast included the premiere of The Beatles performing “All You Need is Love”, a major event at the peak of The Beatles popularity.
