Brazil Tunes in to TV5MONDE via Intelsat
By Pablo Catapodis, Senior Sales Director
Viewers in Brazil can now receive high-quality, regionalized content via TV5MONDE Brésil, a leading French language channel that broadcasts to more than 250 million TV households around the globe. Utilizing Intelsat’s premier pan-regional cable distribution neighborhood, Intelsat 21 at 302˚East, TV5MONDE launched a new channel to specifically serve the Brazilian market.
The Intelsat 21 premium Multi-Channel Per Carrier (MCPC) platform, encompassing the IntelsatOne® terrestrial network and teleport uplink in Ellenwood, Georgia, enabled TV5MONDE to quickly and efficiently deploy its new channel in Brazil. The flexibility of the IntelsatOne MCPC service is ideal for customers like TV5MONDE who are looking to cost-effectively expand into new markets. Through Intelsat’s fully-managed service, customers are able to leverage the power of Intelsat’s premier video neighborhoods – such as Intelsat 21, with nearly 100% cable head-end penetration in Latin America — while only leasing the capacity needed to reach their target audience.
This is the second channel TV5MONDE has launched via Intelsat 21. TV5MONDE is also utilizing Intelsat 19 – a premier Pacific Rim video contribution and distribution neighborhood – to support a High Definition (HD) channel in Asia. Intelsat’s global hybrid network offers the flexibility and reliability needed to support media customers’ expansion needs whether adding a single channel like TV5MONDE, or distributing a small group of channels to affiliates, cable operators, or Direct-To-Home (DTH) subscribers.
