Intelsat 21 (IS-21) was successfully launched in August 2012 from an ocean-based Sea Launch platform in the Pacific Ocean. As part of Intelsat’s fleet replacement and expansion plans, the Intelsat 21 (IS-21) satellite is scheduled to start service at 302°E in 2012, and will replace the IS-9 satellite. IS-21 will continue to serve the Latin America and Caribbean media community with the highest cable head-end penetration in the region, as well as hosting a thriving DTH community. IS-21 will also carry a mobility beam to provide South Atlantic coverage in Intelsat’s global Ku-band mobility fabric. IS-21 is the 133rd satellite built for Intelsat.
